A First-Year Rarity
When Gibson launched production of the black Everly Brothers J-180 in Bozeman, the entire 1990 run totaled only 23 instruments, making them some of the scarcest modern-era Gibsons. This particular guitar was the third one completed on September 27, 1990, placing it at the very beginning of the Bozeman era. The following year production increased slightly, to only about 134 guitars—still remarkably limited.
Why This Guitar Stands Out
Historic Significance: Among the earliest Bozeman-built Gibsons, representing the dawn of the company’s acoustic renaissance.
Ultra-Low Production: One of just 23 made in 1990, and serial number 3 from that inaugural run.
Investment Potential: Early Bozeman J-180s are highly collectible and continue to appreciate, especially examples this clean.
Whether you’re a serious collector or a performer seeking a stage-ready vintage Gibson with undeniable character, this J-180 delivers.
